New Game Design (Japanese: 新ゲームデザイン), (slogan: Come and See Video Game Ideas! (Japanese: TVゲームのアイディアが見えてくる!)) is a Japanese book written by Satoshi Tajiri about video game production. It is 160 pages long (of which 1-156 are numbered) and also includes a color fold-out sheet listing different types of games by chronological order under thirteen genres.
The book includes a short four page section about Pokémon Red and Green before they were officially released, in addition to six of Game Freak's other works (Mendel Palace, Yoshi, Mario & Wario, Nontan no KuruKuru Puzzle, Jerry Boy, Pulseman) and many paragraphs about game development, works in the game industry and terminology.
Additionally, the front and back covers appear to have pre-release sprites from Red and Green and possibly other games.[1] [2]
This book was published by Enix and there were approximately 15,000 copies sold.[3] HAL Corporation were also responsible for the production. The dimensions of the book are 21×15.2×1.6 cm (8.3×6×0.6 in).
