We bought this because although we are working with a very newly seeded lawn, it quickly developed a pretty thick thatch. The grass was looking dry and like it had no breathing room. We've tried regular rake to aerate the lawn, and it worked, but nothing like this Scarifying roller rake from Wolf-Garten. WOW, some reviewers were not joking about the amount of thatch that this rake was pulling. This is highly recommended, and in addition it was pulling on clover roots making it easier to pull them out.

This style of rake will always be a harder to use tool but wolf garten made it about as easy as can be for a manual labor detacher. My yard is too small to justify a power rake but big enough to feel the work out of detaching

Didn't keep, as I wanted one I could pull behind mower. Seemed well built, I just wanted an easier process. Seller was great about allowing a return

it's OK, suitable for small and perfectly flat lawns. I've tried it on 110 M^2 lawn and it was too hard' took me about 3-4 hours and in some places it didn't reach the grass for scarifying.

Very sturdy and well built rake. The handle is a little too short which makes it hard to use. The rake tines only move downward when the handle is down far enough. I had to keep bending over and lowering the handle just to get the tines to reach the soil/thatch.

It works great, pulls the moss right out. Takes some effort but you get a great work-out!

Worked great! The head pivots to help the back and forth motion. Changing the angle of the handle changes the depth. I needed to do that with my St Augstine so I didn't rip out all the runners. I used to use a plastic rake. That was gentler to the lawn. I would love it if someone would create one with the plastic tines that would not disturb the thatch as much. I need to loosen the thatch so grass can grow through rather than take away the thatch.

Should have come with a handle. Mine arrived bent and the wheels were uneven. Tried to return but the seller wants me to pay for the return. Not worth what it would cost to return to Ireland. Be careful of buying from other countries. Would not recommend buying.

4.0 de 5 estrellas Good garden tool, but there are better scarifiers

I paid £29.99 for an item delivered on the 7th June 2018. It arrived and I put it straight to work.

Firstly, our lawn is 400 metre square and far too big for this item, which ideally should be used on a smaller lawn UNLESS you are a devil for punishment and like a bit of a workout! I do and today, I have scarified an area around 1/6th of the total area, before rain stopped play, as opposed to me running out of steam. I have attached a picture of the result of around 20 minutes work, which when completed, will ensure that I have a huge amount of dead grass, weeds and some moss. Historically, well 17 years or so, I have used an electric scarifier which really did a great job, with tines which removed the grass and more importantly dead moss better than this item; sadly that item stopped working recently and I decided to purchase this item to see how well it performed.

You will note from my photograph that there is a lot of dead grass (thatch) pulled out of my lawn and this has to be collected and disposed of. Historically I have always used a petrol garden blower, to "herd and corral" the thatch into a huge pile and then I transport it to an area of the garden where I burn it. Beware, if you intend to use a council collected bin, you may fill that and several bags as well, depending on the size of your lawn. I tend to use a proprietary weed and feed, with moss killer in the middle of May each year and then scarify, which is what I am doing this year. The soil where we live is clay and therefore moss tends to grow in abundance, with the chemicals in the moss killer turning it black. It is in this area where this item has lost a star. It just doesn't pull up the moss as effectively as the electric model I used previously, in fact nowhere near as effectively - that said, the evidence of how well it removes thatch is in the photograph.

Historically, I scarify our lawn and then scarify it again at right angles for best effect. Using this model, I will have to see whether I have sufficient energy; that isn't a criticism, it was my decision to purchase a manual model. What I have done though is to undertake the process one way, pushing forward and back until I get no resistance, go the whole width of the lawn using the same process and them come back along the same stretch in the opposite direction: it does pull a lot more out when you do it both ways.

In summary, it works, there is quite a bit to clear up after you have scarified the lawn, but it does work. The item is very durable and whilst the depth which the item can scarify can be adjusted, there is no instructions; you find that out yourself. It has a long warranty, although you are unlikely to wear it out and it works, albeit not as well as an electric model to remove moss.

I have awarded it 4 stars for three reasons, you have to purchase a handle if you don't already have one (I did), it does not remove moss as effectively as an electric model with flexible tines (I can see it still in our lawn) and a set of instructions regarding how best to use this item and adjust it would have been useful for a complete novice. Otherwise fine.

5.0 de 5 estrellas It really does work!

After nearly suffering a heart attack trying to rake the lawn I decided to try a more mechanised approach. I already have lots of Wolf Garten tools so thought I would try this one. What a difference, twice the result for half the effort, it really does work, nicely engineered and looks like it will last many years, providing I do!

I used this to remove moss from my front lawn. I hoped the tool would do a good job but it still took me by surprise. I filled a wheelie bin to overflowing within an hour, from a 4m x 5m lawn! You may find that there is much less grass than you thought there was on your lawn - so be prepared to patch / overseed.
Short pull-push action works very well, as another reviewer has stated, the moss is gathered on the pull and deposited on the push, preventing the tines from clogging. You need to order a handle separately.
Only gripe - I got a blister on my thumb but that was probably due to operator error through over-enthusiasm.

Very happy with delivery and product. After reading other reviews I decided to buy this roller one, it is so easy to use, being a small and petite woman, I had thought it would be hard work. But this made a hard job relatively easy very pleased indeed.
